November 2022

Thank God for his Son—his Gift too wonderful for words.
2 Corinthians 9:15 TLB.

We have been reminded recently at our church anniversary
service, marking of the 65th birthday of the church opening its doors, of the
faithfulness of God that as the Lord for the years His love continues to keep and
guide us. And that we, as Gods’ chosen and spirit- filled people – His church,
continues to be “a beacon” of light and hope for the local community that
surrounds it. On a personal level, the birthdays we celebrate with family and
friends each year also remind us of God’s loving goodness to us and as a
significant birthday approaches for yours truly, I can look back and give thanks
to God for the best birthday gift I ever received. While I have previously
received some lovely birthday gifts from both family and friends, no words can
express the wonderful gift of new life I received when decided to follow Jesus in
2011 and became a born-again Christian. The gift of salvation through Jesus
Christ is the best gift anyone could have, and we as Christians do have it. On a
day of getting gifts from family and friends we also should remember and be
thankful for the gift of salvation, we have through Christ. On Sunday 27th
November, we mark the beginning of advent, the special time in the church
calendar when we begin to prepare to commemorate the first coming of Jesus,
God’s Son to earth culminating with his joyful birth in Bethlehem on that first
Christmas night. During advent we also eagerly anticipate his second coming
when Jesus will return to put things right in a broken world. So, as we celebrate
birthdays, and look ahead to advent and Christmas, let’s continue to thank God
for his Son – his gift too wonderful for words and be beacons for Jesus and tell
others about God’s wonderful gift of love that is freely available to everyone. If
you haven’t accepted this gift yet, then why not do so today? Believe me, it is
the greatest gift you will ever receive!

Prayers, blessings, and love
